I have never taken the time to enter any of the card contest at
Card Patterns, but after meeting some of the gals over at the Flickr' Group I thought I would give it ago. Tracy, a fellow Canadian, who is on their sketch team has given me so much inspiration with her amazing creations. With all of the talent that they provide, along with their great giveaways, your sure to always have fun and be inspired by others who submit. Check out their site each week to see the new sketch and prize give away. You won't be sorry that you did! Lol! Without further ado, here is this weeks sketch!
I decided to turn the sketch sideways and to not add the bow! I wanted to also use a different shape for my sentiment. I had so much fun with this sketch. This card is my very first Vintage Card! Horray for me! I have many friends who make Vintatage Style Cards and they do such a beautiful job, but for me I always find it difficult to know where to start or what to add. This time I decided to make my own flowers. Thanks to
Maria and
Dawn who gave two amazing tutorials on how to make them. I have never made flowers before and now that I have I am more than sure that I will make lots more. They are soooo easy and they turn out so great. Be sure to check the above links so that you can make your own embellishments too.
So here is the card that I made using the above sketch. There is also a sideview to show the texture that is produced when making these beautiful flowers.
Supplies Used For This Card Are:
Pp: Wild Saffron/K&Company, Old World/DCWV, Background Paper/Unknown
CdStk & Sentiment/Stampin Up, Pearls/Dollarama Crafts
Crocheted Lace/Unknown, Green Ribbon/Walmart
Distress Inks/TimHoltz-Ranger, Adhesives/Ez Runner By 3L
I know that it can be somewhat intimadiating to try something new and the same can be said for trying different techiniques or styles. I am very happy with how this turned out and proud of myself for trying and not giving up. So I encourage you to give something different a try. Step outside of your comfort zone. You will be surprised to find yourself liking something that you never thought you would! I know I did! Lol!
For a chance to win some items to use on your Vintage Cards, leave a comment with a link to your creation to have your name entered for a random draw. I will choose a winner by next Saturday, May 29th and post here to this blog on Sunday afternoon. I am really looking forward to seeing what you come up with. I will post a picture sometime tomorrow to show the RAK that I have to share.
That is it for tonight! Trust you are all doing well and having a great long weekend. Have fun and be safe! Remember safety is the best policy!!
Hugs & Blessings

Awesome, Dana! I love the darker vinatgy colors. Alot of people think of vintage as pinks and frills but I like a bit of grot. LOL The blues and greens and golds are perfect. I hope you're proud of your work cos it came out really nice. :-) Hugs))
