Hero Arts, Lily Pad Challenges & More ....... Edited Version

Hi Everyone:

Just wanted to share this card I made for the Hero Arts Challenge for May, which was to use flowers and colouring. Also, the gals over at Lily Pad challenged us to use embossing on our cards.

I am afraid that maybe I might be a little late uploading it for the Lily Pad challengs. So ticked with myself for having to use someone else's computer and not having my programs that I normally use to edit my pics. Then the batteries went dead in the camera. I don't think my son will be to happy when he notices that I raided his Wii Game for batteries. Lol. Oh well, life happens. Lol.

Here is the card I made for both of these challenges and some others. Hope you like it! I had fun making it!

Card Recipe
  Vellum: Gold, Teal Green, Lavender/Michaels'
Cardstock: Autumn Leaves,Bazzil, and Stampin' Up
Stamps: Classic Bloom/H5481 & Everyday Sayings/CL342 - Hero Arts
Markers: Tombo Makers - Teal Green, Lgt.Brown, & Purple, white gel pen
Punches: Corner Rounder/Creative Memories, Lace Punch/Martha Stewart
Embossing Powders: White/The Artful Stamper
Embellishments: Black Pearls/ e.Company/Prima
Die Cuts: Leaves/SVG CutFiles
Inks: Basic Black/Stampin' Up

This card was made using embossing powder to emboss a white flower on Vellum. I used lavender, teal green, and gold vellum. Once embossed I repeated this step. I then cut out the embossed centers of the second group of embossed flowers.  This was to add some layering to each flower center, thus creating depth and dimension. ( I hope the close up shots aren't too big, but some of you requested bigger pics! Lol. Your wish is my command! Lol!) It really does give you a better idea of what was achieved here. Only showing two here cuz I think you get the idea!
Close Up of Lavender Layered Flower Center

And close up of Teal Layered Flower Center.

I would also like to submit this card to the following challenges:
Paper Play Challenge: Blossoms and Blooms
Paper Crafting Journey: Anything Goes and/or Use your Favourite
Creative Craft World: 3 or More Flowers

If you read my earlier post you would have read that I thought my submission for Lily Pad was late. Well the sweet Vicky was in touch to let me know that my submission was excepted. Yahoo! I am so happy about that, but I do sometimes get the whole time zone thing mixed up when submitting for deadlines.  Also, wanted to share with you Canadian Gals that you can purchase your Hero Arts stamps and Tombo Products here. You may also click on Scraptacular Logo in my sidebar. Jessica would love to help you out I am sure! Be sure to check out the blog because this weekend there is an On-line Crop to celebrate the 2nd Birthday of Local Scrappy Store. Lots of challenges and prizes.

Thanks for dropping bye. I hope that I have inspired you to break out the embossing powders and make some beautiful flowers too.  You never know maybe there will be a tutorial on how to make this card in the near future! Lol! Until next time, take care and happy scrapping.

Hugs

Mo's Guest Designer Contest & Stampin' Sister's In Christ Challenge

Hi Everyone:
So you thought that I forgot to post again didn't you! Lol! Well really I went to upload my pics to blogger to share but decided to check my email first! Bad decision! I checked several email and then opened one to read only half way down, when my computer started acting really freaky! Screen went crazy and I started panicking! I thought that I had opened a file with a virus, but knew that no emails that I had opened had any attachments. So I sat there with watery eyes because I thought that I had lost hundreds of dollars worth of SCAL cutting files that I use for my Cricuit Machine and all of my freebies/purchased Digital Images. I had to call my hubby the next morning to tell him what happened. I was actually in tears because of all the family pictures that I had feared that I had lost. I was so happy when he said that if the computer would not start again that it probably meant that the video card was shot and it looks like the off/on button was broken. Wheeeeeeeww! I actually could breath a sigh of relief! Thank you God!!  So due to this and the fact that Blogger was having problems it made sharing very difficult. So we are gonna get a new computer in the next little bit!  So for now my hubby is being kind enough to let me use his laptop. (Thanks sweetheart! Love you for this!!)

Okay so I will share the card that I made for the challenge at Mo's Challenge Blog and for the Stampin' Sister's In Christ Challenge. Now at Mo's Challenge Blog we were to make a card that shared summer fun or summer theme and also a chance to win a Guest Design Spot. This would be a dream come true for me. I have loved her images since I first learned about Digital Designs back 3 years ago. I think that her images are some of the best out there and I would love to own them all! Lol! My friend Dorcas works with Mo's team and you should see what she does with these images. She makes them almost talk they are so amazing. So I am praying that I get picked!  Now the image I used isn't summer per say, but it is the only image that I had that could apply. Why you might ask? Well, because we can pray in the summer just as well as in the fall, winter and spring. Lol! Well, we can!!! Lol!

The challenge at Stampin' Sisters in Christ is to use things that are pretty and also reflect the scripture verse for the challenge which is Ecclesiastes 3:11a (NIV) "He has made everything beautiful in its time." I  love this verse because it reminds me that when things are out of sorts in my life that God is gonna make things work out in His time. I really was suppose to play along with last week's challenge which was based on my favorite Bible verse which is Romans 8:28 - "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose."  This is the verse that really as seen me through some pretty tough times and is a constant reminder of God's faithfulness. But due to life being crazy like I mentioned above I didn't get to play!  Oh well, this challenge is a great one too!

So here is the card that I made for both of these challenge and will be also submitting it for some others.

Now I want to share that I wasn't thrilled with this image and it actually ended up in the garbage can due to the fact that I made a big boo-boo!  For anyone who knows Mo's Images you will notice that the bunny is really too close to this sweet little girl. I made a huge smudge of my blending inks on her nightdress, so being frustrated, I tossed it! The next day when I was cleaning my work station I came across the garbage can and decided to take it out and have a better look at it. I thought. "How can I salvage this? I thought back to something that Kathy from the Daily Marker shared about covering up our mistakes when we do colouring. So I decided that I would cut this image out and remove the smudge that way and move the bunny closer. If I didn't share this I don't think that you would have noticed right! My hubby didn't! So to Mo ......I am sorry that I had to cut away your signature underneath this girl's knee, but it wasn't on purpose. I am a strong believer in copyright and giving credit where credit is due. No stealing images here! Lol! I decided that I needed to make a background due to the fact that I couldn't shade around like I would normally, due to my error!  So I decided to pop up the image with pop dots and to create a background. I use to do Tole Painting and loved it. Haven't done it in years, but I have not forgotten what I learned and what I taught in my classes. So I decided to create a floor with floor boards. Also, with nail heads showing and also patterned wallpaper. I wanted the wall to be sutble and not over powering. So I just did it green with shading and added tri-dots made with my Tombo white gel pen. Just the right touch I think!

Here is a close up to show the colouring and also the way I did my floor and wall background.

I would also like to submit this to the Die Cut Diva's Show Your Style Challenge.

I have to say that this Bible verse really applies to what I have created here for sure. Why? Because I thought it was garbage and totally destroyed! I didn't give up on it and saw the potential it had. It became something beautiful! This is the same way God deals with our disappointments and struggles, the same way He looks at us! Regardless of what we have done or said that feels wrong or bad, He still sees our beauty!!  He makes the rough spots in our lives that look and feel ugly into something beautiful. And in His time. Thank you Lord!

I still have other cards to share but will have to do it later. I missed the deadline to share the page I was doing for the Hero Arts contest and their card challenge. I will share later. Thanks again for stopping bye. I trust that you who celebrated Mother's Day had a great one. Mine was great considering. I got a ipod which really took me by surprise. Now I am considered a techy! I think not! Lol. Still love my cd player really, just to darn big to take on walks. Lol. Hope to see you back again soon.

Love & Prayers

Die Cut Diva's "Your Style" Challenge

Hi Everyone:

Just wanted to pop in and share with you a challenge at Die Cut Diva's. This is a site that will challenge you to get out your cutting machines and use them. How often have you thought that you could use your Spellbinders because it is easier and left your Cricuit sitting on the shelf. Now don't get me wrong using your easier cutting machines is great, but sometimes the others get left out. Well that is the case for me! Lol. Well this is the place for you. With so many cutting machines and die cuts to use, you will always have a place to upload your projects at Die Cut Divas!  There are some pretty amazing card submissions going on right now in the Die Cut Divia's Flicker Group!  You have to check out their blog as well. Today Paula is featuring some cards from this month's submission and I am so humbled that she featured two of my cards. Thanks sweetie!!  So this month's challenge is to make a card showing your style! Well for me I don't truly know. Some of the ladies over there think my style is Vintage with some punch of colour or brightness. Others have said Shabby Chic!  I think I am a mixture of many styles. Not really sure which one yet though!  Hopefully Mr. Mojo will come back in full force and then maybe, just maybe, I will be able to figure out my style. Lol! Why not check it out! You can play along too. There are some prizes up for grabs as well.

I just wanted to say sorry for not getting my Stampin Sister's In Christ card up and also my Mother's Day card that I had to share. Believe it or not both my guys are sick again. No, really! It is depressing to see that my hubby just got over the stomach flu bug and now he is sick with a headcold and sore throat. My son only went back to school yesterday. Been off sick since last Thursday and then with all the rainy weather we have been having, my back hasn't been co-operating very well. So today I awoke with a scratchy throat! I better not be getting what they have!!! Lol! Seems when one gets sick jere, we all do!  So on a more positive note, I will be trying to get those cards up later today and hopefully sharing a page that I am finishing for the Hero Arts Scrapbooking Day contest!

Before I go I would like to share that my card got picked as one of the Fab 4 over at Wee Memories! I am so excited and can't belive it really! This is quiet the honour for me because the submissions over there are tough and so many wonderful card artist. Thanks so much for picking my card ladies!

So until a little later, have a great afternoon and I will see you back in a little bit.

Hugs

Wee Memories Paper Piecing Challenge - Edited Version

Hi Everyone:

I just wanted to share this challenge with you and the card that I made today. The challenge was to use Paperpiecing in our creation. Here is what I came up with. I used the only Hero Arts Flower stamp that I have right now. I thought that maybe I had thought of every possible way to use this stamp, but seems like the possibilities are endless. I stamped my image on patterned papers and just layered them one after the other. I also hand cut the other flowers from some "Daisy Bucket" paper and I am so happy how it turned out. The pic isn't the greatest but that is what you get for taking pictures at night. Lol.

And here is a close up of that beautiful Hero Arts stamped flower!!

Card Recipe
Pattern Paper: Daisy Bucket
Cardstock: Stampin'Up & Recollections
Stamps: Hero Arts CG285/Hand Drawn Flower & CL342/Everyday Sayings
Inks: Ranger Distress Inks/Peeled Paint, Staz On/Black
Ribbon: Unknown (From A Friend - Thanks Ceal!)
Embellishments: Pearls/ e.Company/Prima

I can't remember the last time that I paperpieced anything. So this was a great challenge. This card is being submitted into the New Hero Arts Monthly Challenge also. They have a great challenge on this month to use flowers in your card creations. That is easy enough for sure and certain because they have loads of flower stamps to choose from. I have to get more because you will be sick of seeing me use this one! Lol. Though I try to use it a diffrent way each time. Lol. That is why stamping is so great! You can always change it up!

There are other themes as well for this months HA contest and you can check it all out here. Be sure to play along for your chance to win some yummy prizes.

I am so excited to share that I received "Honorable Mentions" for the card that I submitted to the "Playdate Cafe' Challenge. I was so surprised and happy! Look forward to playing along again soon. So I am proud to display this wonderful badge in my sidebar.

There are so many challenges out there to play along with and to inspire you.  Tomorrow I will be sharing my card that I made for the "Stampin Sisters In Christ" challenge and there is still time to play. Thanks for dropping bye and I look forward to seeing you again soon.

Hugs & Blessings

Blog Candy Winner!

Blog Candy! We all love to try to win it and sometimes we do! Unfortunately this blog candy as been up for grabs here for a while. I was gonna leave it up until I had 100 followers and I am 24 away. I guess the fact that I haven't shared much doesn't help either, due to the fact that I have been doing some renovations here! Sorry about that, but life can be crazy at times and other times when it is not, I seem to be dealing with personal things. Things that are of great importance and need dealing with from time to time.

I just recently had a death in my family and to be honest this as been really difficult for me. I can't even begin to understand what my Aunt and cousins are going through right now! My uncle passed away on Wednesday and was buried yesterday. So my heart has been very heavy due to the fact that I miss this great guy more than I thought possible and also because my own Dad is taking the passing of his baby brother so bad. He was a great guy with a huge heart and giving spirit.  If you could remember our family in prayer I would be ever so greatful.

I say all of this to say that I was suppose to announce this news and to share some Hero Arts cards this weekend past. But I just didn't have what it took to sit and write this post. So here I am now!  I tried to use Random Org to pick the winner for this prize but I could not figure it out. So I put all of the names and comments in a draw and my husband picked this post # 11 Auntie Em who said the following:

Congrats on your winning! And if you could be in touch with me by leaving a comment with an email address that would be awesome. I will get this out to you a.s.a.p!  Thanks for playing along and for becoming a follower.

Well today was a beautiful sunny day here in my little part of the world and just going for a long walk felt so great. I love seeing the sky and all the beautiful flowers popping up. Spring is finally here!  Yay!  Really helps one to be so greatful for so many things and to try not to take things for granted. I trust that today was a great day in your little part of the world and that today your life is filled with sunshine.

Hugs & Blessings
